How to Test GFCI & Identify a Ground-Fault Error on a 7iE Thermostat

To test the GFCI on your 7iE Thermostat, ensure that the heating indicator is on and then push up the clear tab on the bottom of your thermostat.

Video Instructions

The video below will visually walk you through how to test the GFCI on your 7iE Thermostat:

Written Instructions

Testing the GFCI on your 7iE Thermostat may be necessary for inspections. To test the GFCI, first ensure that your system is current running. You should see the heating indicator to the left of the temperature on the home screen. If you do not see the heating indicator, temporarily override the temperature on your thermostat to turn the system on.

Then, in the bottom left corner of your thermostat, push the clear tab up into the thermostat and hold briefly. You will see a red screen take over the thermostat that reads “ground fault detected,” indicating that the test was successful.

To clear the error, press and hold anywhere on the thermostat screen for 3 seconds. The thermostat will, then, return to the home screen.

If the red “Ground Fault Detected” screen is showing on your thermostat and does not go back to the home screen when pressing and holding the thermostat screen for 3 seconds, first, remove the faceplate to perform a reset. If the error persists after reconnecting the faceplate to the thermostat, contact Warmup to troubleshoot.
