Why Install Warmup Underfloor Insulation?
Underfloor heating systems heat-up a room much faster than traditional centrally-heated radiators and require less energy to do so. To make your heating even more efficient and to save even more money on your heating bills, we recommend you also install Warmup Insulation to work alongside the floor-heater.
Underfloor insulation is important in reducing heat-loss whilst rapidly improving the heat-up times of a floor heating system. Many of our insulation solutions also feature soundproof and waterproof properties.
Benefits of Underfloor Insulation
Warmup insulation keeps the warmth produced by the heater inside the room, saving you both energy usage and money. As the UFH System warms up to the optimal comfort temperature, the insulation enhances this heat and evenly distributes it into the room quickly.
Greater energy-efficiency
The thicker the insulation below the floor heater, the greater the energy-efficiency, however deeper insulation will affect floor build-up height. Warmup Insulation products come in a range of depths and sizes to provide you with the optimal solution for your project to prevent energy-wastage.
Suitable for all subfloors
Our insulation products are suitable for use with all subfloors and can be used with all floor finishes. Some floor heating systems require a specific combination of insulation and accessories for a successful heating solution. Please find the details of these products below.
For use in any project
All our insulation products can be installed in new-builds or renovation projects. For use in older properties with high levels of heat loss, a floor heater with insulation may not deliver the necessary heat output for optimal comfort. We recommend carrying out a heat loss calculation as part of your project.
Underfloor Insulation Cost
All Warmup Insulation and Heating System Accessories are competitively priced and feature high-quality composition and a research-led design approach.
Warmup Ultralight insulation boards are individually at $33.00 per board. Warmup underlay for use with FOIL is sold in a large roll. 1 roll of underlay covers 110 sf. The cost for this roll is $131.00.
Whilst insulation may seem like an additional expense when installing a floor heater, the improved performance, and energy efficiency that the insulation provides more than makes up for this initial cost through the savings you can make on your heating bills.
Underfloor Heating Insulation FAQs
Do I need insulation?
Many people wonder if it is worth insulating under their floors and the answer is that yes, it definitely is – especially above a crawl space or concrete slab. Insulation boards are ideal for use with electric underfloor heating as they prevent the heat from the heating system from escaping downwards to the subfloor.
How do Ultralight Insulation Boards work?
Ultralight Insulation Boards are uniquely designed for heated floors with it’s 4-in-1 design that offers insulating, heat-spreading, decoupling, and acoustic. It combines a thermal barrier and a heat-spreading layer to deliver first of it’s kind results.
Do I need to prime the subfloor before installing Ultralight?
Typically, you will not need to prime before installing Ultralight Insulation Boards. Primers help encapsulate dust to improve bonding with the thinset you’d apply to lay the boards. But on brand new or clean subfloors this may not be necessary.
What is Insulated Underlay?
Insulated underlay is a material used beneath flooring, such as laminate, hardwood, or carpet, to provide thermal and acoustic insulation. It typically consists of materials like foam, rubber, or felt, which help to reduce heat loss and noise transmission.
What are the benefits of using Insulated Underlay?
Insulated underlay offers several benefits, including improved energy efficiency by reducing heat loss through the floor, enhanced comfort underfoot by providing a cushioning effect, and soundproofing properties that minimize noise transmission between floors.
Does Insulated Underlay help with soundproofing?
Yes, insulated underlay can significantly reduce the transmission of impact noise, such as footsteps or furniture moving, as well as airborne noise, such as voices or music, between floors. This is particularly beneficial in multi-story buildings or areas where noise reduction is desired. Read more here.
How does Insulated Underlay contribute to energy efficiency?
Insulated underlay acts as a barrier, preventing heat from escaping through the floor by redirecting the heat upwards. By reducing the amount of heat lost into the subfloor, it helps to maintain a more consistent indoor temperature, thereby reducing the need for heating, which can lead to lower energy bills.
