How much does a Snow Melt System cost to operate?

If you are looking to calculate the potential running cost of a snowmelt system it is best to have a Warmup quote in-hand. If you’d like, you can request one here.

To get started, you’ll total the wattage of all Warmup mats and/or cables on the estimate. The wattage is displayed as the last series of numbers after the “/” in the model number as seen below.

After you’ve calculated the total wattage of your project, divide the result by 1,000 and then multiply by the cost of electricity per kWh. This will give you the running cost per hour for your snow melting system.

Warmup systems are designed to only be on during the storm to maintain a clear surface vs. turning on to melt accumulation. This not only makes the system more efficient but also ensures safety unlike many other snow removal methods.
