The Challenge
Brad and Sean are the owners of the popular renovation TikTok account @backtothestuds. They take on various home renovation projects and make them upscale, modernized, and comfortable. They were planning the remodel of their brownstone in Brooklyn, NY, and decided that they wanted to redo everything. From improving the building's exterior to redesigning the interior, they had a really good grasp on enhancing the design and aesthetic of their brownstone. However, they wanted its functionality to be just as modern. They wanted to make it as efficiently cozy as possible by installing a reliable and efficient heating system.
The heating system would be needed for four separate areas - under their three bathroom floors and under the brownstone's cold entryway. They wanted a heating system that would provide warmth and comfort while also being energy-efficient and cost-effective. That being said, they knew the challenge would be finding a heating solution that met all of their energy and budget-related requirements while maintaining a high quality level of comfortable heating.
The Solution
Brad and Sean had already used Warmup radiant heating products for previous installations and projects. For example, they had previously installed our Snow Melting Mats underneath their sidewalk in front of their Brooklyn brownstone in 2018. After having a positive experience with our Customer Experience Team and after having successful winters that required no more shoveling due to their heated sidewalk, they got back in contact with us. They knew that Warmup provided high-quality and reliable heating solutions, which prompted them to inquire about which electric underfloor radiant heating system would be best for their brownstone remodeling project.
We suggested installing our DCM-PRO electric underfloor heating system under the bathroom floors and the entryway. This electric underfloor heating system would provide warmth and comfort with a gentle and even heat distribution. The DCM-PRO's Uncoupling Membrane allows for flexibility in cable spacing, meaning that homeowners can choose the space that best meets the desired heat and energy output for their home. As the floor heater system is installed beneath the floor, it takes up no additional space within a room, allowing Brad and Sean to design their spaces as they wish without any added bulk or eyesores. Ultralight 4-in-1 Insulation Boards were recommenced for the entryway due to the concrete subfloor foundation. The boards prevent heat from passing between the heater and the subfloor, effectively pushing all of the heat from the system upwards for maximum efficiency. The Ultralight Board delivers three more added benefits in addition to insulation, which include heat-spreading, decoupling, and acoustic capabilities.
To ensure energy efficiency, Warmup recommended using a 6iE Smart Wi-Fi thermostat. This thermostat would allow Brad and Sean to control the temperature of each room separately, and monitor their energy usage, ensuring that they only used the heat when and where they needed it.
The Result
The installation of Warmup's electric underfloor heating system, combined with the 6iE Smart Wi-Fi thermostat and Ultralight 4-in-1 Insulation boards, provided the perfect solution to Brad and Sean's heating needs. The three bathroom floors and cold entryway were now warm and comfortable, with an even heat distribution and no cold spots. The Ultralight Insulation Boards helped reduce heat loss and energy waste, and the DCM-PRO System efficiently optimized energy use and heat output, helping Brad and Sean lower their utility costs and stay within their heating budget.
Brad and Sean were highly satisfied with the result, and their TikTok followers also appreciated following along the exciting renovation process that we encourage you to check out today!
