I nicked the wire slightly; do I need a repair kit?
The cable consists of two inner conductors, each insulated, then surrounded by a ground braid and a final cable jacket. A very slight scrape to the cable may only reveal the ground braid.
If that is the case, it should be sufficient to electrical tape the area tightly.
However, if any damage has been made to the braid, a proper repair needs to be completed.
Any damage, however slight, could result in issues down the road. But so could an improper repair, so it is up to the installer to weigh the pro’s and con’s and the level of cable damage.
