Underfloor Heating for 400 West Huron

The Challenge

400 West Huron is a high-end, high-rise condominium located in the upscale River North neighborhood, which can be found in the heart of downtown Chicago. These condo owners sought to upgrade their heating system by finding a heating solution that would allow them to free up wall space in their home and create a minimalist interior design. They needed something that wouldn't take up any additional space and that wouldn't take away from their minimalist aesthetic, which ruled out bulky heating systems such as radiators. In terms of practicality, they wanted a heating solutions that would provide high-quality and energy-efficient warmth throughout the condo while minimizing uneven temperature zones that often occur in high-rise living.

In addition to improving comfort at home, they wanted a heating upgrade that would enhance the unit's property value by incorporating modern yet cost-effective technology that would interest future buyers. By investing in a premium heating system, this homeowner aimed to balance home comfort with strategic improvements that would strengthen the condo's resale value in downtown Chicago.

The Solution

Considering the nature of the high-rise building and the fact that it had been recently built, Warmup worked with the condo owner to determine which heating system would be best for the project. They decided that the 120V StickyMat System would make the most sense, as the cables are pre-set within the mesh and the mats can be easily rolled out during installation. Given the adhesive backing, no additional tools are needed, as it can simply be pressed onto the subfloor or an insulation board and then covered. Once in use, the StickyMat's pre-spaced cables ensure that the system delivers consistent, even heat across the floor surface, successfully eliminating cold spots and improving comfort. As the floor heater system is installed beneath the floor, it preserved valuable floor and wall square footage that the client needed to pursue their contemporary yet minimalist interior design goals.
