What are the recommendations for using the Ultralight Insulation Boards?


Our Ultralight Insulation Boards significantly reduce the time it takes to heat the floor, allowing the space to warm up faster and saving you money by reducing the time heating cables are in use. Ultralight is not required in any application, but Warmup recommends using Ultralight on all subfloors* and strongly recommends it for subfloors that are not heated from underneath. For example, concrete floors in contact with the ground or wood floors over unheated crawl spaces.

 

*Ultralight would not be necessary in applications where the subfloor temperature is at equilibrium (e.g., Subfloor temperature equilibrium means the subfloor settles at a steady temperature when the heat it gets matches the heat it loses to the room or ground.). Example: 2nd floor master bath where the 1st floor is heated.
