Tag: locating a break
You’ve heard it before: a picture is worth a thousand words. Sometimes, it’s a thousand dollars…
A great trick from the Pro’s:
Whether you’ve done your own layout, got one from your reseller or even the manufacturer, plans change. The blueprint never really matches the reality of the remodel, and one of the really neat features of the Warmup mats and cables, is that you can adapt to changes in the field easily.
Issues are very rare with electric cable systems, because unlike their hydronic counterpart, they don’t move, leak or freeze. But when issues arise, they are 100% of the time related to the time of installation. Once installed properly, systems will work for decades.
That is why taking a few smartphone pictures of the final layout ( as illustrated above) before tiling can save both the contractor and homeowner a lot of aggravation. With a good view of the layout, Warmup utilizes a TDR (Time Delay Reflectometer) to approximate the damage to the cable. The device sends a signal into the cable and traces the distance to the break or damage. With a few pictures, we can help you narrow it down to a tile or two.
Warmup offers all TDR tools and repair kits at no charge and sends them UPS to the job site with the assistance of a professional technician.
